Central European energy group EPH has added Lynemouth to its UK portfolio, buying the power station – due to be converted to burn biomass – from RWE. EPH already owns the 2GW Eggborough power station.
Lynemouth is a 420MW coal-fired station. It received State Aid clearance on 1 December for a Contract for Difference from the UK government that will support conversion to biomass fuel.
Neil O’Hara at EPH’s EP UK subsidiary said: “We are pleased that EPH has made this investment and look forward to working closely with the Lynemouth Power team and its contractors to reach final investment decision.”
EPH operates mainly in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Italy, UK, Hungary and Poland.
