A third of major government projects due to deliver by 2020 are in doubt or unachievable unless action is taken, according to a report published by the National Audit Office.
Amyas Morse, head of the National Audit Office, said: “I am concerned that a third of projects monitored by the Authority are red or amber-red and the overall picture of progress on project performance is opaque. More effort is needed if the success rate of project delivery is to improve.”
The NAO looked at progress to improve delivery across the Government Major Project Portfolio. The portfolio includes nine projects in the Department of Energy and Climate Change, with a whole life cost of £148 billion.
