RES are to engineer, procure and construct a 300kVA/640kWh battery energy storage system for Western Power Distribution (WPD).

The project will demonstrate nine different applications of energy storage on the grid as part of WPD’s initiative to investigate the technical and commercial feasibility of battery energy storage combined within distributed generation installations in the UK. It will operate at a 1.5MW solar park at Copley Wood near Butleigh, Somerset, and connect to WPD’s South West 11kV network.
