Eggborough Power Limited has announced plans for a 2000MW combined cycle gas-fired power station on the site of its existing coal-fired power station at Eggborough near Goole in East Yorkshire.
A new underground gas pipeline will be constructed to connect the power station to the UK’s natural gas transmission network.
According to reports, the company hopes to be awarded a Development Consent Order for the plant in 2018 and bring it into operation by 2022, by which time the coal-fired station will be closed.
The DCO application has not yet been made. EPL said it was currently undertaking technical and environmental studies to identify the most appropriate location within the Eggborough Power Station site for the proposed gas-fired power station and also a suitable route for the gas pipeline connection to the natural gas transmission network.
