Good Energy has announced its first battery service solution – a new direction for the green energy company – at the Eden Project in Cornwall.
Eden’s new battery, due to be installed in summer 2018, will have five 50kW ‘fridge-sized’ battery units and a control centre. The ‘behind the meter’ battery will help Good Energy match the Eden Project’s energy demand with supply, to deliver cost savings. IGood Energy will supply, install and own the battery an also expects to benefit from other revenue streams like fast frequency response.
Eden is already powered by local renewable energy via the Selectricity scheme, in which Good Energy is a partner. Selectricity enables businesses to choose the renewable generators who provide their energy.
Eden plans to create a new exhibit to show its visitors how the battery works and the environmental and economic benefits it will provide.
