Ofgem has appointed Total Gas and Power to supply Rutherford Energy Supply’s 280 business customers and customers were switched on 19 October. The company went out of business earlier last week.
Total Gas and Power has promised to honour any money owed to customers with open accounts with Rutherford, up to a total of £100,000. Customers will not be charged exit fees if they decide to switch to another supplier.
The parent company, Uttily Plc, will also cease to trade. Uttily plc does not directly supply energy to customers, but it has commercial arrangements in place with a number of partner suppliers where around 360 customers are supplied under the Uttily plc brand.
Most Uttily plc customers will continue to be supplied by the relevant partner supplier, so Ofgem said it will not appoint a new supplier for these customers.
