Energy storage company Eelpower has signed a three-year optimisation agreement for two 50MW batteries with Habitat Energy. The batteries are being built as part of Eelpower’s 2021 joint venture arrangement with Swiss infrastructure fund manager SUSI Partners.
The projects, at Fordtown near Aberdeen and Halesworth in Suffolk, are set to enter commercial operation later this year. Fordtown will provide grid services to Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks and National Grid, while Halesworth will support UK Power Networs.
After four years of collaboration, this is the first route-to-market agreement signed between Eelpower and Habitat (which since November 2021 has been wholly owned by Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners).
Habitat will manage both schemes using Eelpower’s bespoke Eel Dispatch platform, developed with KrakenFlex.
