Asset investor Alpha Real Capital has acquired three UK wind assets together valued at £90 million. The acquisitions – expected to generate 88GWh per year – were completed in December by funds managed by Alpha Real Capital and comprise:
• A 27.45MW onshore wind portfolio of 10 turbines in Fife, County Durham and Bedfordshire acquired from a fund manager
• A 9.2MW onshore wind portfolio of 14 turbines located in Cumbria, acquired from EIS funds
• A 0.5MWp single turbine site located in Leicestershire acquired from private owners.
Alpha Real Capital says its renewable infrastructure team has now deployed over £900 million in equity since 2013, with 40% of that deployment coming in the last two years.
Will Morgan, Head of Renewable Infrastructure, Alpha Real Capital said: “Our latest acquisitions complete the £180 million capital deployment into our Wind Renewables Income Fund for UK institutional investors and take cumulative investment over £900 million to date, fantastic milestones for the business to reach.”
Boris Mikhailov, Head of Client Solutions, Alpha Real Capital said: “Renewable energy as an asset class provides several attractions for investors. In addition to diversification benefits, it can provide an attractive steady income and solid total returns, as well as a high level of inflation protection. Demand from investors for renewable assets is increasing dramatically and Alpha is well positioned to facilitate such investment requirements for our growing institutional client base.”
