Ofgem has opened its tenth tender round for offshore transmission owner (OFTO) licences. The tender to own and operate the links between Dogger Bank A Phase 1, Moray West and Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farms to the onshore network.
Dogger Bank A Phase 1 (1200MW) was built by SSE Renewables, Equinor and Vårgrønn and is located 131km (at the nearest point) from the North East coast of England.
Moray West (860MW) was built by Ocean Winds (a joint venture of EDP Renewables and Engie) and Ignitis and is located 65km north off the Aberdeenshire coast of Scotland.
Neart na Gaoithe (450MW) was built by EDF Renewables UK and ESB and is located 15.5km off the Fife coast of Scotland
The tender process will have two stages an Enhanced Pre-Qualification stage and an Invitation to Tender stage for between three and eight bidders, resulting in the selection of preferred bidders.
Expressions of interest have to be made by 11 April.
