Power exports between Ukraine and Slovakia can restart.
Cross-border capacity allocations for exports in the direction from Ukraine to Slovakia started on 21 July, offering participants 200MW with a delivery date on 23 July from 9:00 to 14:00.
Ukrenergo and SEPS, Slovak Transmission System Operator, have signed an agreement establishing the procedure for conducting auctions and distributing funds from access to interconnectors between operators of these two power systems. Because of the war and the constant risks of shelling, access to interconnectors will be allocated only for a short time at daily auctions.
It should be noted that Ukrainian electricity will be exported only when there is surplus electricity in the power system, which is likely to be in the morning and afternoon when photovoltaic power plants are at their highest capacity. In the evening Ukraine will have to to import electricity.
Ukrenergo noted that the maximum capacity ENTSO-E allowed to Ukraine and Moldova for electricity exports to Europe is 400MW, and for imports is 1200MW. It said “We are working together with our European colleagues on the possibility of increasing these volumes”.
