Crown Estate offers ‘accelerator’ funding for floating wind supply chain

The Crown Estate has invited expressions of interest for a £10 million pilot fund Interest from businesses who want support for projects aimed at supporting the development of new supply chain capability for floating wind in the Celtic Sea. The application process opens in mid-June and closes at the end of July.
The funding is part of a £50million Supply Chain Accelerator fund. The Accelerator will provide matched funding to UK supply chain projects, ranging between £250k and £1million per project, to help them undertake the early-stage development works necessary to get them “investment-ready”. The Crown Estate will look for the option to participate as a follow-on funder in the capital investment phase.
Offshore Wind Leasing Round 5 aims to establish a new floating wind market in the Celtic Sea, with three Project Development Areas for new floating wind farms, potentially totalling 4.5GW, off the coast of South West England and South Wales. A tender process is under way.
