Severn Trent Green Energy to add large-scale solar to portfolio

Severn Trent Green Power (STGP), a renewable energy company with operations across the UK, is to construct three new solar farms, with potential for a fourth.
The company said it has finalised a development rights deal with solar company Elgin Energy that grants STGP project development rights at sites in Leicestershire, Warwickshire and North Yorkshire.A fourth site in Shropshire looks set to be added later.
The three solar farms will generate around 150GWh annually as they are brought into operation over the next two years, increasing rising to over 185GWh once the fourth is energized. STGP’s overall renewable energy output will increase from around 350GWh annually to around 500GWh.
At present, STGP manages 33 solar farms, generating 16GWh annually. Its other renewable energy comes from anaerobic digestors. Farryad Ishaq, Strategy and Business Development Director, said: “While anaerobic digestion remains a core focus of our business, we recognise the significant potential of solar, wind, and hydro power. This deal represents a big step forward in our ambition to power the UK towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.”
