Mersey Reactive Power contract renegotiation to boost revenue by 30%

Downing Renewables & Infrastructure Trust (DORE) has renegotiated its contract with National Grid Electricity System Operator for Mersey Reactive Power Limited, a 200 MVAr shunt reactor to provide additional reactive power to the Merseyside area.
The shunt reactor, which DORE acquired in June 2023, is now available for unlimited use throughout the year. DORE says this will increase its revenues under the availability-based Pathfinder Contract, part of National Grid’s Stability Pathfinder Initiative.
DORE expects the shunt reactor to increase its annual revenue by around £300k per annum (to be indexed with inflation) – equivalent to around 30% for the remainder of the nine-year contract.
