RES seeks consent for Kintyre wind farm

A Section 36 application has been submitted to Scottish Ministers by RES for the Killean wind farm.
The nine-turbine wind farm would have a capacity of 59.4MW and a 50-year lifetime and RES says it would pay back its carbon investment over two years. It would lie 2km east of Tayinloan on Killean Estate, Kintyre. A proposed community benefit package could include RES’s Local Electricity Discount Scheme (LEDS) which offers an annual discount to the electricity bills of those properties closest to the wind farm.
Danny McLean, Development Project Manager for RES, added: “We have worked hard over the last year to develop a project which we believe fits sensitively within the landscape and which minimises or mitigates any potential impacts. The design has been shaped by extensive site survey work as well as consultation with the local community – and we are grateful to everyone who took the time to attend our public exhibitions and share their views with us.”
