Vital Energi Utilities has been awarded a contract to build and operate a 6MW solar farm by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council.
The £8.6 million ‘design, build, operate and maintain’ contract will include supply to Royal Gwent Hospital.
The capacity of the ground mounted solar farm at Coed Ely is expected to be 6MW. It will be designed as two separate installations, one with a 5MW, 33kV export-only WPD grid connection and the other with a 1MW, 11kV private wire connection to RG Hospital with no export allowance.
