Uniper seeks local comment on ‘low carbon’ plant for Connah’s Quay

Uniper is seeking input from local residents, councils and other organisations around Deeside on a new power plant at its Connah’s Quay site. The new plant would include carbon capture technology, and the captured carbon dioxide would connect into nearby transport and storage infrastructure to be developed as part of the HyNet industrial cluster. The carbon dioxide would then be transported to permanent offshore storage facilities in repurposed depleted offshore gas fields.
The company is working on an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), to identify any potential environmental impacts associated with the construction and operation of the power station and how considering how it will manage or mitigate them.
It will be consulting on the Preliminary Environmental Information Report and inviting feedback on our proposals during a Statutory Consultation, which ends on 19 November.
