Pulse Clean Energy is decommissioning nine diesel generation sites and repurposing them as grid-scale battery storage assets.
The changeout is part of its ambition to operate more than 1GW of energy storage assets across multiple markets.
Pulse Clean Energy is the new name for Green Frog Power, following a re-brand after its October 2021 acquisition by the Investment Management Corporation of Ontario.

New chief executive Matthew Mendes and chief operating officer Trevor Wills will be responsible for executing and growing the substantial pipeline of battery projects in development.

The rebranded company has also added Paul Massara, former CEO of RWE npower as chair of its board. Alison Kay, former Group General Counsel and Company Secretary for National Grid Plc, as a non-executive director.

Mendes said: “Through innovation in energy storage and optimisation, it is our ambition to enable the smooth transition to a zero-carbon energy network. We pride ourselves in doing this differently, as our approach is rooted in data and insight to ensure a seamless collaboration across the energy system.”

IMCO announced its 100% acquisition of Green Frog Power Ltd in August 2021, completing in October 2021.
