Penso Power has secured planning approval for a 100MW connection capacity battery development at Bramley in Hampshire, 12 miles south of Reading. Permission was granted on appeal to the Planning Inspectorate after Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council’s refused it in October 2021.
The project will connect to Scottish & Southern Energy Network’s (SSEN’s) distribution network and the design allows for deployment of more than 250MWh of battery storage.
Bramley is one of a pipeline of large battery storage projects that BW Energy Storage Systems committed to fund under an agreement with Penso Power announced in October 2021. Penso Power and BW ESS will become joint shareholders in the Bramley development, with Penso Power overseeing the project’s deployment and managing it once it is operational, targeted for 2024.
