Atrato onsite power has energised a 0.4MW rooftop solar project in Thetford, its first rooftop solar project under a framework agreement with Tesco. The project was installed under a 20-year corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) signed in February that will deliver solar PV projects at up to 20 sites as the ‘first step’. Atrato already had 19 operating rooftop solar PV systems on Tesco supermarket sites across the UK and the framework agreement brings its total pipeline of Tesco solar development projects to 69.
“This framework agreement unlocks the development of new solar power at one of Britain’s biggest consumer businesses, supplying it with low cost, traceable clean energy. We are delighted to be partnering with Tesco to deliver the next phase of its solar ambitions,” said Gurpreet Gujral, managing director of Atrato Partners, the investment adviser to the company, in February.
Separately, Atrato is also expecting to complete its 28MW London Road solar farm in Q4 2023. It has has invested £121 million since 1 April to increase its solar PV capacity by 91MW.
Its portfolio now comprises 182MW of solar PV capacity, of which 64% is operational the remainder are due to be energised by March 2024. Its pipeline of acquisition opportunities is said to be £410 million across 80 projects, of which 13% are already in operation.
