The capacity of a gas-fired power station owned by Coryton Power has been increased.
The combined cycle gas turbine at Corringham, Stanford-le-Hope, Essex. was originally due to be rated at 750MW. The Secretary of State has now allowed for a variation in the planning permission that will allow an increase in the permitted electrical output of the generating station from “about 750MW capacity” to “up to 850MW”. The variation has which is facilitated by an upgrade to the existing gas turbines and associated systems.
