Development consent order granted for Meaford gas-fired generating station

The government has granted the development consent order (DCO) for Meaford Energy Centre, near Stone in Staffordshire. This energy centre will be a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station with a nominal generating capacity of 299MW with electricity connection, gas connection pipeline and highway. The project is being developed by Meaford Energy Ltd, a joint venture between developers Glenfinnan and St Modwen. The application was made in March 2015. This is the first planning decision made by by Greg Clark in his new role as Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
