Ofgem has launched an investigation into sales practices by Economy Energy Trading Limited.

The company supplies electricity and gas to domestic customers mostly on pre-payment meters.  Citizens Advice service raised concerns with Ofgem in July 2016 relating to a high level of complaints against the company, particularly around its marketing and sales practices.

The investigation will examine whether Economy Energy breached licence conditions which require suppliers to communicate transparently and accurately to customers when undertaking marketing and telesales activities.
