Ørsted has signed an agreement for the sale of transmission assets connecting the Burbo Extension offshore wind farm to the GB network to Diamond Transmission Partners Burbo Bank Extension Limited. The transmission assets include the onshore substation, export cables and the offshore substation.
Offshore wind farm owners are required to divest their transmission assets in a bid process run by Ofgem. The regulator selected DTPBBE Ltd as preferred bidder for the Burbo Bank Extension in July 2017. DTPBBE Ltd is the licensee entity incorporated by a consortium comprising Mitsubishi Corporation and HICL Infrastructure Company Limited. The new owner is a joint venture owned by A/S (50%), Kirkbi A/S (25%) and PKA A/S (25%).
The Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm is located in the Bay of Liverpool, approximately 7km from Liverpool. The wind farm’s 32 MHI Vestas 8MW wind turbines have a combined capacity of 258MW.
