National Grid wants smaller companies who provide reserve and response services to the network to join a Working Group that considers changes in how the network operates.
These types of working group look at proposed modifications to the Grid Code and assess their implications for the system and participants. In this case, the modification is looking at developing new prequalification processes for companies that want to provide network services. The EU’s new System Operation Guideline requires all providers of reserves to have been prequalified against the minimum technical requirements for each of the three EU reserve categories.
Interested parties can take a look at a recent webinar held by the System Operator that explains some of the EU terminology to those who haven’t come across it before.
