Biogas project in northeast

Wardley Biogas is to construct a new plant at Wardley, Tyne & Wear, to  convert unwanted organic waste into green gas for use across the region’s heat, power and transport sectors.

The £17 million project is supported by BioConstruct, a biogas EPC contractor in the sector and project partner, Gap Organics, the food recycling division of a national waste management company based in the North East.

Matt Cormack, commercial partner at Ward Hadaway, said “We are delighted to see this project achieve financial close and look forward to seeing the scheme enter the next phase of its development.” It took 18 months to structure the project and negotiate commercial contracts.
