Applications have been submitted for environmental permits for the planned Greenlink interconnector between Wales and the Republic of Ireland.

Current News reports that a Foreshore Licence application has been submitted to the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government’s Foreshore Unit in Ireland, and a Marine Licence application has been submitted to Natural Resources Wales. Planning applications have still to be submitted onshore connections and  cabling.

The 500MW Greenlink interconnector will run from Freshwater West in Pembrokeshire to Baginbun beach in County Wexford and is expecetd to begin operation in 2023.
