Diamond Transmission Partners (a consortium of Mitsubishi Corporation and Chubu Electric Power) has been named preferred bidder to take on the link connecting Orsted’s Hornsea 1 wind farm to the onshore network
The link is around 145km offshore and 38km, and it has three 220kV offshore and onshore export cables. The assets to be transferred ti the new Offshore Transmission Owner (Ofto) are three offshore substations; inter-link cables; a reactive compensation station; the export cables, offshore and onshore; the onshore substation and the 400kV connection to National Grid. The onshire connection is at Killingholme. The initial estimate of the transfer value was £1396 million.
Diamond was one of five shortlisted companies that have also been shortlisted for Beatrice and East Anglia One. The others are:
- Aegir Energy Transmission, a consortium of Macquarie Corporate Holdings Pty Limited and Frontier Power Limited.
- Core Transmission Partners, a consortium of BBGI SICAV S.A and Semco Maritime
- Equitix TEPCO Consortium, a consortium of Equitix Limited and TEPCO Power Grid Incorporated.
- Transmission Capital Partners, a consortium of International Public Partnerships Limited and Transmission Capital Partners Limited Partnership, which was named as preferred bidder for Beatrice.
