Industry body Scottish Renewables has said Scotland should generate the equivalent of 50 per cent of its total electricity, heat and transport demand from renewables by 2030. Renewables currently produce the equivalent of 15 per cent of Scotland’s energy use from electricity, heat and transport.
Scottish Renewables is calling for the 50 per cent target to be a priority for the next Scottish Government, which will be elected in May.
The Scottish Government should also create a Scottish Renewable Energy Bond, Scotitsh Renewables said, to allow local people to invest in the the renewables industry.
