Sembcorp has been granted development consent for a new gas-fired power station near Middlesbrough.

The Tees CCPP combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) will have a generating capacity of up to 1,700MW. It will be built on the site of the former Teesside power station – Grangetown – and will use existing gas and electricity connections. It will have two 850MW units.
