Network assessment includes competitive reinforcement and no-build options

There are five reinforcement projects on the transmission network likely to be taken forward this year that could be opened up to competition, according to National Grid ESO.

That is in addition to links to Orkney, the Western Isles and Shetland, which have already been found to meet competition criteria (ie they are new, valued at £100 million or more and separable from the rest of the network).
