Eggborough Power Ltd (EPL) has announced plans for a 2,000MW combined cycle gas-fired power station on the site of its existing coal-fired power station at Eggborough near Goole in East Yorkshire.
A new underground gas pipeline will be constructed to connect the power station to the UK’s natural gas transmission network.
According to reports, the company hopes to be awarded a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the plant in 2018 and bring it into operation by 2022, by which time the coal-fired station will be closed. The DCO application has not yet been made.
