NGET is planning to start market trials in the first half of 2020/21 for a new black-start service. The initial trial will be in one region and its features are not yet clear, but the System Operator (SO) said that, in a new approach to black start, it wants to move to “submissions from a wide range of technologies connected at different voltage levels on the network, with DNOs playing a more active role in the restoration approach”. It hopes to be running a fully competitive procurement by the mid-2020s.
