The public inquiry into Northern Ireland’s botched renewable heat incentive (RHI) scheme has heard more evidence of blunders made by officials.
By 2015 it was clear the cost of the “cash for ash” initiative was spiralling out of control. Plans for tariff cuts were drawn up, but officials feared a formal consultation on the tariff changes would lead to a spike in applications for the scheme.
