Brexit has hit home for the Capacity Market. A panel of technical experts has told BEIS that the UK’s EU departure could affect the amount by which interconnectors should be derated in the Capacity Market. That could not be changed once capacity agreements have been granted, so the secretary of state should consider the possible impacts before setting out derating factors for this year’s Capacity Market auction, which concerns delivery in 2022/23. The auction is due to take place on 29 January.
