UK Power Networks (UKPN) is set to go to market in 2017 for a suite of demand response and storage schemes to provide flexibility services as alternatives to necessary network reinforcement.
UKPN would be looking at of the order of 10 projects, sized around the 1MW level, Barry Hatton, director of asset management, told New Power. Although the tender will not exclude traditional reinforcement options it was unlikely that option would be the most beneficial solution, he suggested.
