National Grid is to offer contracts to three power stations to provide additional reserve during winter 2015/16. The plants are Centrica’s South Humber Bank (40MW) and Barry (227MW) stations, and Corby Power’s Corby station (353MW). All three are CCGTs.
The contracts were offered after the first tender round for Supplemental Balancing Reserve (SBR) for 2015/16, which ran from 3 November to 5 December. It is the first tranche of an additional reserve requirement for next winter estimated at 1,800MW.
