The Port of Ardersier, a 700 acre former oil and gas fabrication yard near Inverness, has been put up for sale after its owners went into administration. Administrator KPMG is hoping that the site will attract energy businesses and in 2014 the Highland Council granted planning permission in principle to establish a port or port services for energy-related uses, having previously granted permission for a residential-led mixed-use development. Both planning consents remain live.
