Energy Bill in parliamentary ping-pong over grace periods

Nine months after the government’s Energy Bill was introduced in the Lords, the end game is nigh: the legislation is involved in what is termed parliamentary ‘ping-pong’.

Peers in the Upper Chamber, where the government has not got a built-in majority, are holding out for amendments, which the Commons – where the government has a numerical majority – wants to see removed from the Bill.
