How quickly will transport change? A report from US thinktank RethinkX suggests that change could be much faster and more dramatic than current projections suggest – within 10 years most car journeys in the US could be by autonomous service vehicles and 60% of vehicles could be electric. In Rethinking Transportation, the group put together three trends – a move toward electric vehicles, the advent of driverless cars and trucks, and the growth of shared transportation – and foresaw a profound change driven by “transport as a service”.
