Utilities have to be ready to upgrade their smart meter rollout programmes, say Adrian Cook and Steve Blackwell
Technological transformation means that utility customer care systems have had to evolve over the past 20 years. Despite their weaknesses, legacy processes and systems have accommodated imperfect data and have, in general, worked to measure consumption, send bills on time and ensure balancing and settlement, all under regulatory and competitive pressure.
