A 30-turbine tidal park off the south-west coast of Islay has been approved by the Scottish government.
DP Energy and its development partner Belgian company Bluepower are now set to build one of the world’s first commercial-scale tidal energy schemes.
The project has a leasing deal with the Crown Estate for a 30MW tidal array in an area about 6km off the island to the west of Portnahaven.
