Long-awaited plans to harness flexibility from domestic customers and use it to increase consumer power and reduce power industry costs were published jointly by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Ofgem this month. The strategy came just a few days before the government announced plans for a shift to electric vehicles – albeit over several decades – that would raise both the need and opportunities for domestic power flexibility. That was part of government plans to improve air quality.
