The fact that Extra Energy went into administration in the winter of 2016/17 did not appear to cause domestic consumers to lose confidence in new entrants to the energy market, according to recent figures.
Meter point numbers show that small companies served increasing numbers of customers, while familiar names – both the big six and mid-range suppliers – lost market share.
