Ofgem is “hoping for a decent proposal early next year” to include the demand side in the balancing market (BM), according to the regulator’s smart systems lead, Louise van Rensburg.

Speaking at The Energyst’s recent meeting on demand-side response (DSR), she said the regulator was “at the mercy of work the industry is doing” on the issue, but said she was aware of “a number of code modifications” in process that might enable the change.
