Capacity Market review could bring in renewables, reduce or exclude interconnectors

Will renewables enter the Capacity Market?

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has opened a review of two Electricity Market Reform (EMR) mechanisms, the Capacity Market (CM) and the Emissions Performance Standard, with a call for evidence. BEIS said of the review, promised five years ago when the measures were introduced: “We do not foresee the need for fundamental change at this point.”
