The UK concrete and cement industry has a large carbon footprint that is hard to address. One area where it has cut emissions is by using material that is otherwise waste – power plant ‘fly ash’ – in the mix. But unless it can find new sources of pulverised fuel ash (PFA), the UK may end up looking for imports from India or China to fill its needs.
