Government is offering grants to develop smart local energy systems, in a bid to develop the UK as a global powerhouse in the sector. What does that mean for companies working on new business models?

An application window opened on 26 April for £30 million in funding to help develop detailed designs for smart local energy systems. ‘Prospering from the Energy Revolution’ is an initiative in the government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), aimed at making the UK a global centre for integrated energy systems. The funding window closes on 31 July.
