Consumers think that government and energy companies can largely control energy prices and the first goal of energy policy should be to keep prices low, exclusive research for New Power has revealed. However, their view of what helps keep prices low is nuanced, and they are willing to subsidise investment in new technologies and domestic energy sources, the research revealed.
The research also showed that consumers are wary of political parties’ campaigns around energy policy.
