OpenEnergi has announced plans to increase the amount of capacity it can offer National Grid to provide Frequency Response five-fold over the next six months.
Frequency response is typically provided by operating power stations, who offer capacity that can be called on to ramp up or down within a couple of seconds and for periods of up to half an hour to bring frequency back within required parameters. OpenEnergi says it is the first company to provide that service from large energy users.
